The evening Lakshmi–Kubera puja is performed with lamp, flowers and incense, and many families bring home a fresh box of agarbatti and dhoop with their Dhanteras shopping so the house is ready for Diwali.

A simple Dhanteras incense ritual

1. 1Clean the puja corner and the entrance in the morning.
2. 2At dusk, light the Yama deepam at the doorstep, facing south.
